Place the dock against a wall on a hard floor with clear space in front of it, plug it in and give the V8s a long first charge as the manual instructs before running it.
Make sure the dustbin is empty and the cartridge filter is seated properly, then clip the bin back in until it latches.
Lift cables, rug tassels, trailing curtains and small objects off the floor. Office chairs with five-caster bases and low gaps under appliances can trap the robot, so block these off if needed.
Use the remote to set the current time, then program the weekly schedule so the V8s starts from its dock on the days and times you want.
Start a clean from the remote and watch the first run to spot places where it gets stuck, pushes doors shut or can't get back out from under furniture.
To mop, fill the water tank with plain water, fit the washed pad and set the water level to suit the floor. Roll back or block off rugs and carpet first, since the robot will not avoid them on its own.

It is simple to live with: a remote, a weekly schedule and no app. The same simplicity sets its limits. It can't dig into carpet, its navigation looks aimless and works best with frequent runs, and the mop is only good for light upkeep.
If your floors are mostly hard and hair is the main problem, the V8s does the daily job well and needs little looking after. If you have lots of carpet or want mapping and app control, look at a robot with a brush roll and smarter navigation.
