I bought this device in October of 2015 and let me say this: I bought it to use the omelet maker. It makes wonderful omelets, EXCEPT for two things.I use it every single morning and place 3 eggs, cheese, olives, sometimes pickled okra, and fresh basil from my garden in it. It turns out FABULOUS.HOWEVER: the omelet bowl is way too small. It holds just over a cup, which does not allow you to make a 2 person omelet without fear of it running over the sides. Because the dome is shaped as it is, you cannot change out the black plastic bowl for something larger. Good luck with that, we have tried several different bowls and nothing works due to the design. Here is the biggest kicker though: The switch on this thing is a piece of crap. It is somehow rigged to turn itself off if the cooker runs out of water, but after one minute, it turns back on and can burn your house down. There should be federal regulations banning the way this switch works. I have the device hooked up to an old photo timer so after 29 minutes it will turn off no matter what. So after 6 months, with almost no messing with the switch, the switch just died. The unit would not turn on at all. So I took the thing apart and discovered the following: the slot where the switch lever is will let water inside the burner electrical area, so if you wash this under a tap, you can get water inside the unit. The bolts in there holding the wiring were rusted. Bear in mind I had this 6 months and used it once a day very carefully. So, don’t let anything run over inside the unit, such as your omelet because you have to then scrub it under the tap and you will rust out the inner workings. More importantly, the switch is very poorly engineered and should be against the law in my opinion. I took the switch out and basically hotwired the device to be always on, but hooked it up to a timer that will automatically shut off no matter what. This is just scary. Pay attention, folks. If you have bought this and had the switch go bad within a short time, speak up. Reverse engineering the switch showed me that it is very poorly made and should be off the market until they come up with a safe solution.

Do yourself a solid, read reviews to minimize headaches or a potential negative outlook on this product. In summary:-Excellent capacity in a small unit.-Understand this requires the eggs to be pierced on top as instructed, with the understanding that the wider end of the egg is actually the “top”. Hint: eggs are packaged in this position in carton. Yes, i did go check many cartons in the market.-Using a bit of vinegar and water solution in the water tray as soon as cooking is done helps remove any brown residue or marking from the tray with ease.I opened this outta the box, set ten eggs using these guides (cooked in 15mins) and used the water measuing cup instructed markings. I did not encounter any water displacement on the counter or eggs spilling/ splitting out of the shell. Perfectly cooked boiled eggs. This marks a new era in eating boiled eggs; couldn’t be more satisfied.

I just got mine. I watched the video. I went and bought Distilled Water. I followed the instructions. I used the cup to make a hole in the pointed top of the egg. Added the correct amount of water… I turned it on. The water over flowed….and look at my eggs.I only did 7 eggs….They are not even cooked all the way through…..Please help….I am so disappointed…

I was hesitant at first to buy this product due to all of the pics showing quite a mess and a lot of frustration. But I decided to go for it anyway. I thoroughly read the instructions and followed the tips by reviews from people who had success with this product. There is also a section in the instruction booklet called “Tips and Hints”, THIS IS A MUST READ SECTION!!! I had a dozen eggs and tested hard boiled (9 eggs), poached (2 eggs), and omelette (1 egg).See pictures for hard boiled eggs. Only one egg had a minor leak at the top. Use caution when piercing the top of the egg, if I made the egg crack down the side, I saved it to use for testing the poaching and omelette trays. Not sure if that makes a difference, but I’d rather be overly cautious. THE TOP OF THE EGG IS NOT THE NARROW/POINTED END! THE TOP OF THE EGG IS THE END FACING UP WHEN YOU FIRST OPEN THE EGG CARTON!A couple other helpful points (other than identifying which end is the “top” of the egg) that are found in the instruction booklet are: – – The water breaker gives 2 lines for each cooking method, this is your water fill RANGE. Fill to the middle of the range for your first time, then fill slightly more or less (staying within the range) based on whether you want them cooked longer (fill more water) or cooked less (fill less water). – – there will be mineral deposits in the base after the water evaporates. Use distilled water for cooking in order to minimize this. After each use, let the base cool, then use a damp paper towel (& a little white vinegar if you have it) to wipe the mineral deposits off the base. Be careful not to burn your hand if you choose to wipe it out before the base cools completely.I didn’t take pictures of the 2 poached eggs, because my husband was too excited to eat them. The poaching tray has 4 compartments (1 egg per compartment). For this first run, I filled the beaker to the middle of the poached range, but it could’ve used a little more time (in my opinion) so I will fill water to top of the range next time. I forgot to lightly coat the poaching tray with butter before cooking, and the eggs definitely stuck to the tray.REMEMBER TO USE COOKING SPRAY OR BUTTER BEFORE COOKING IN THE POACHING & OMELETTE TRAYS. This makes cleanup soooo much easier. See before & after pics of cooking one egg with cheese in the omelette tray. I remembered to line the tray with a little butter and the cooked omelette slid right out of the tray. Since the omelette tray is designed for 3 eggs and I only had one left to use, I filled the beaker to halfway between the poached and omelette lines, this gave me the perfect result!I hope my review helps others to troubleshoot issues they’ve experienced and enjoy using this product as much as I plan to!
