I was so excited to get my Evapolar cooling damn, so I could place it beside my bedside at night. I tried it during the day to see if it would cool the area. After inserting the water (easy to do using a bottle), I could feel cold air IF I held my hand right against the fan. Even a foot away, it just felt like a normal very low blowing fan. I checked in hours later, and the temperature was the same, but the humidity in the area increased by 4%. I have a thermometer that sets about 2 feet above where I placed the Evapolar.I would NOT recommend this unless you put your face or not body part directly in front of the unit within 6 inches. I would give it zero stars if possible!

should have listen to the other reviews. Did not work like we thought it would, fan speed was slow and NO COLD air.. a normal fan works better.

I work in a studio with several computers right next to my chair. They give off quite a bit of heat! I’ve tried a couple of personal fans that work fairly well, but this Evapolar evaCHILL Personal Evaporative Air Cooler and Humidifier Portable Air Conditioner Fan works much better than the fans. I had never heard of a “swamp cooler” before, but that is what the evaCHILL is based on – it is a concept that Benjamin Franklin came up with and the theory has been proven to work.By putting water in a reservoir that is soaked up into a paper filter and the air is blown through the filter and as it evaporates, it cools the air and you end up with a cooling effect in addition to the air blowing over you and cooling you off. It is pretty typical to be able to cool down to 72 degrees with this method.I haven’t put a temp gauge on the output yet, but holding my hand up next to the regular fan and this evaporative fan, you can feel the much colder air coming from the evaCHILL. It truly works! So, the pros and cons…The main pro is that it works. I am MUCH cooler with the evaCHILL sitting next to me.The cons are the price, that you have to fill it regularly, which is not always easy or convenient. Filling it with water isn’t terribly difficult, but it is inconvenient to have to refill the water regularly. It hold 800 ml of water, which is a fair amount. Over 24 ounces. Also, it came with a TON of dust on the filter, probably paper dust from the filter itself. Once it soaks up the water, that is pretty much no longer a problem. And it gets a little noisy at higher fan speeds. Someone said that it didn’t blow very hard, and I had to wonder if they were using it right? If you press the button several times, it will actually get pretty high speed and blow the air pretty fast. This isn’t perfect, but it works and really cools your personal space down – especially if you have a computer near you that is heating your space. I would recommend it pretty solidly to someone who needs to cool their space down aggressively – other than the price. There are some others out there that are cheaper with good ratings, so you might look at them. But if you want a personal space air cooler that definitely works – this is a winner! I have several co-workers ordering the same thing because it works so well for me and they want that same cooling at their desk as well.I hope you find this to be a helpful review. I take reviewing very seriously and try to be helpful. Thank you!

Excellent for cooling small spaces! Currently use this as a portable a/c to keep the back of my SUV cooler for my pup while we are traveling. Living in Arizona even short rides to the vet and back can be tough since vehicle a/c outlets are all directed towards traditional passenger seating.

This product is a life saver. I use distilled water and it provides cold air on my face.It does have a light bar when turned on but I covered it with construction paper so I could sleep.

Fantastic evaporative cooler. I’ve been waiting for something small and compact like this for a while and trusted the EvaPolar brand as an original. Please know this is USB C which works well if you have other USB C devices although you do get a cable in the box. There are several speed settings and the lowest is great if you have it next to your bed in the evening, it’s very quiet. The blue light that lights up both sides of the water tank can be switched off by holding the power button and turned back on the same way.It really does keep you cool and I took this on holiday with me to keep my daughter cool in the hot UK weather this summer (2019).I have recommended this to my family and they have also invested.Great bit of kit, easy to use, does what it says it does.

just to clarify – this is a mini-evap cooler, aka swamp cooler. Works great in dry climates, not so great in more humid ones, and probably ineffective in very humid parts of the country. I have not tried to measure temp difference w/thermometer since the cooling effect is same as “wind chill” – cooling affect against human skin and a thermometer simply doesn’t measure this. With fan on high, perceived cooling is very noticable.Regarding other comments re: poor fan output…fan has 4 speeds, maybe user(s) didn’t get up to the high speed level…? I have mine on a table 5-6 ft away from my Fam room couch and moist cooling breeze is VERY noticeable and effective. I have been able to increase house A/C 77-79degrees during plopped down watching TV hours, or using laptop/ipad for extended periods. I used to have to set it at 74-75. Have saved quite a bit on electric bill.Portability isn’t a big deal for my use, so wish it had a larger H2O tank. Need to refill every 3hrs or so, but this would be dictated by fan speed and environment humidity. I always run my fan on high and humidity is typically in low teens.Only thing keeping me from buying several units (bedroom, office, kitchen) is price. $80-99 is a little steep.

Purchased during a recent hot spell I was hopeful that this would be more effective than a traditional fan at cooling my kitchen or living room. It did not. It was less effective than a traditional desk fan or tower fan. However, as a desk fan in my office it’s fantastic. While the rest of the house swelters, I’m working in cool air which feels air conditioned. But only around the desk area. If you’re not in front of it, it’s like it’s not on……which leads to the other point that it’s really very quiet. Which is great.Final thing to note – I’m sure you can get something else at your desk that would be good enough for WAY less money than this! Might not be so energy efficient but, at this price, I wouldn’t buy it again.

I have a conversion camper van in Arizona and this thing is great! To get the most out of it you do want to sit pretty much in front of it. As with any evaporative system the coldest air is in a arch right in front of it but sitting or sleeping in a small space you are in front of it no matter what. There has been more than one night I woke up under blankets and had to turn it off because I was cold.

At first this product performed well as a personal cooling system. The controls are simple and effective. Topping up the water is quick and easy. USB C power supply makes this a great portable unit. The fan is ‘relatively’ quiet. Overall this is a very considered design. However… The indicator light is too bright if planning to use this at night. I’ve covered mine with insulator tape and it still shines through. The backlight is very useful, but it is blue and I would have preferred red, again for night use. Most importantly, delivery of the unit is slow (although this may have been exacerbated by Covid19). Also after 3 weeks of frequent use, the filter began to smell and shows clear signs of bacteria growth on the back edge. Replacement filter cartridges take almost two weeks to deliver and the total cost (with delivery in the UK) is almost half that of the original cooler. I’m not sure it’s worth further investment and may just buy an alternative.

pretty rubbish device overall. it does about 1/10th of the job a traditional £30 fan would do at max capacity but costs 3 times as much. the most powerful setting on the device only works half the time; it’s a measure of how many times you can be bothered to turn it off and on again until it’s recognised you’ve set it to the 3rd (final) setting. You have to fill this device up with water as well, and the water runs out in about 4/5 hours. if you want this thing on overnight for a good cool sleep i wouldn’t count on it.Shoddy overpriced product with sleek design.. not worth your time if you want efficiency.

Mixing water and electricity does not work and with this product, it just goes to highlight why you shouldn’t buy it. After using it for a couple of months I felt that it helped initially to reduce the heat and cool the surrounding area. What I didn’t expect if for it to start making electrical noises and giving the smell of burning plastic. I would suggest this is taken off the market and given a thorough safety review.PLEASE DO NOT USE IT I wasted my money and do not feel it safe to use.
