TL;DRThe Short Answer: Is the Breville Fast Slow Pro Worth It?

Pressure cooking makes people nervous at one moment above all: letting the steam out. The Fast Slow Pro takes that job off your hands, choosing and running the release itself, and it is strong on ease of use, cooking results and easy cleaning. It suits cooks who want real control over pressure and a machine they can walk away from. The catch is patience and trust, since coming up to pressure and natural release can run long, and reliability reports are mixed.

NoFussDeal rates the Breville Fast Slow Pro 4.4 out of 5 at $329.95. Last updated September 26, 2026.

What Stands Out

  1. 6-quart ceramic-coated cooking bowl, PFOA and PTFE free, that doubles as a serving bowl
  2. Dual sensors at the top and bottom of the bowl monitor and control temperature and pressure
  3. Hands-free automatic steam release that sets the right method: Quick, Pulse or Natural
  4. 11 pressure cook settings, slow cook settings from high to low, and 8 pressure levels from 1.5 to 12 psi

Strengths and Drawbacks

What works

  • Hands-free automatic steam release, its standout feature
  • Adjustable pressure across 8 levels, from 1.5 to 12 psi, for gentle or firm cooking
  • Sear, sauté and reduce settings mean one pot from browning to finished sauce
  • Ceramic-coated, PFOA and PTFE free bowl that is genuinely nonstick and easy to clean

What does not

  • Can be slow to reach pressure, and natural release can take a long time

  • Value for money is mixed, and it takes up real counter space at 13.6 pounds

Features in Depth

01

Dual-Sensor Fast/Slow Cooking System

Cooking Modes Fast (pressure) and Slow, automatically adjusted Settings 11 pressure cook settings Control & Display Touch control with full-feedback LCD

The Fast Slow Pro's core idea is in its name: one machine that automatically adjusts time, temperature and pressure as you move between fast (pressure) cooking and slow cooking, instead of you guessing settings for each. Breville built this around dual sensors at the top and bottom of the 6-quart bowl, which monitor and control temperature and pressure through the cook. That means the same unit that pressure cooks a stew quickly can also run a long, gentle slow cook, switching modes rather than switching appliances. Breville gives you 11 pressure cook settings and slow cook settings from high to low, controlled through a touch interface with a full-feedback LCD that shows a pressure indicator, the temperature, a countdown timer and the steam release status, so you are not guessing what the pot is doing. The controls are intuitive, and you can mix preset and manual cooking freely, since the presets can be overridden. Cooking performance is another clear positive, with good results on everything from artichokes and beans to clear broths and congee.

02

Triple-Safe Lid and Hands-Free Steam Release

Lid Construction Stainless steel, 3-way safety system, hinged & removable Steam Release Automatic: Quick, Pulse or Natural Warranty 1-Year Replacement

Safety is the second pillar of the design. The stainless steel lid has a 3-way safety system, is hinged so it stays attached while you stir, and comes off completely for the dishwasher, with an easy-fitting silicone seal. Breville's automatic, hands-free steam release sets the correct method, Quick, Pulse or Natural, and vents the pressure itself when cooking finishes. That matters most at the moment people get nervous around a pressure cooker, the change from sealed and pressurized to safe to open, and automating it removes the step where you would otherwise reach over a hot valve. It is arguably the best feature, and the pulse release suits rice and risotto. The lid does need attention: lid functionality is a mixed point, so check the valve is seated, the safety pin is aligned and no food touches the lid, or it can spend a long time trying to seal before it tells you. The 1-year replacement warranty is worth keeping in mind, given that reliability is mixed.

03

Pressure Control: Where It Falls Short

Pressure Levels 8, from 1.5 to 12 psi Pressure Control Mixed Reliability Mixed

Pressure control is where experiences genuinely split. Breville gives you 8 pressure levels from 1.5 to 12 psi, which is valuable if you like fine control; lowering the pressure when vegetables go into a braise keeps them firm. It can be quick to reach pressure, or it can take far longer than expected, up to a good twenty minutes depending on what is inside. Natural release is the other sticking point: with beans and stock it can take an hour or more, so recipes that call for natural release need planning. Allow for preheat and release time in every recipe, and save time by heating the liquid on the sear or steam setting while preparing the other ingredients. Reliability and durability are mixed too. It feels solidly built, but one unit stopped heating in its eighth month, and in another case the display flickered and lost its program once. Value for money is mixed for the same reason: the extra control pays off only if you will use it.

Ceramic-Coated Bowl, Cleanup, and What's in the Box

Capacity 6 quarts Bowl Material Ceramic-coated, doubles as serving bowl Included Accessories Steamer basket, rack, 41-recipe book

The 6-quart cooking bowl has a ceramic coating that Breville says is PFOA and PTFE free, and it doubles as a serving bowl, which saves a dish. It is genuinely nonstick and easy to clean, and silicone or wooden utensils keep the surface unscratched. Cleanup extends past the bowl: the lid is removable and dishwasher safe, and ease of cleaning is one of the most consistently positive themes. Two cautions: the silicone seal picks up cooking smells, as on any pressure cooker, so wash it regularly; and the painted outside of the bowl can begin to wear in the dishwasher, even though the nonstick inside stayed perfect, so hand washing the bowl is the safer habit. In the box, Breville includes a stainless steamer basket, a stainless rack and a recipe book with 41 recipes, though more recipes would have been welcome. At 13.6 pounds and about 12 inches wide and deep, it is a cooker that tends to live on the counter.

How We Scored It

Based on
The manufacturer's published specifications and the product's live Amazon listing.
Owner rating
4.4 out of 5 on Amazon, recorded September 26, 2026
How we score
We score each thing that comes up most in owner feedback on the Breville Fast Slow Pro Pressure Cooker. Eight things come up most in owner feedback: three draw praise and five split opinion. Its ratings average 4.4 stars (77% five stars, 8% four, 4% three and 11% one or two), so every score starts at 88, that average on a 100 point scale. Where opinion is split, we take off 6. Where it draws mostly complaints, we take off 12. Then we read ten owner reviews in full (every one we found gave it four or five stars) and move the score up to 5 points either way depending on how the owners who mention it rated the product. Our overall score starts from the same 4.4 star average and loses 0.1 for each thing that draws mostly complaints, with 0.1 more when at least a tenth of ratings are one star, never more than 0.3 in all. Nothing comes off here, so it stays at 4.4. Read our editorial standards

Setting It Up

  1. Wash the parts and fit the seal

Wash the bowl, removable lid and silicone seal before first use, then fit the seal back into the lid. The seal can be fiddly to take in and out at first, but gets quicker with practice.

  2. Check the lid before sealing

Make sure the pressure valve is seated and the safety locking pin lines up in its hole when you close the lid. Keep food clear of the lid, as anything touching it can stop the cooker sealing.

  3. Choose a setting and release method

Pick one of the 11 pressure cook settings or a slow cook setting, adjust the pressure and time if you like, and let the cooker set the steam release method, Quick, Pulse or Natural, or choose it yourself.

  4. Allow for preheat and release

Include the time to come up to pressure and to release it in your plans, especially for natural release. Once pressure is building, you can walk away: the cooker cooks for the set time and releases the pressure on its own.

Common Questions

How reliable is the Breville Fast Slow Pro?

Reliability and durability are both mixed themes. Most owners are very happy, it feels solidly built, and some come back for a second unit of the same model. But one cooker stopped heating in its eighth month, and in another the display flickered and lost its program once. Breville's support replaced the failed unit promptly, though the replacement was only covered for the time left on the original 1-year replacement warranty. Use every function early, and keep your receipt.

Does the cooker really take a long time to reach pressure?

It depends on the load and on the seal. It can be quick, or it can take far longer than expected, up to a good twenty minutes depending on what is inside. If the valve is not seated or food touches the lid, it can keep trying to seal for a long time before warning you, so check both before you start. Natural release can also be slow; stock can take well over an hour.

What power does this pressure cooker need?

Breville rates it at 1100 watts on 110-120 volts, which is a standard US household outlet. It weighs 13.6 pounds and measures about 12 inches wide and deep, so give it a spot near an outlet with room for the hinged lid to open.

What's included in the box, and is cleanup difficult?

The cooker comes with a stainless steamer basket, a stainless rack and a recipe book with 41 recipes, alongside the 6-quart ceramic-coated bowl and lid. Cleanup is one of its strongest points: the lid is removable and dishwasher safe, the bowl is nonstick and doubles as a serving bowl, and the whole thing is easy to clean. Wash the silicone seal regularly, as it holds cooking smells, and consider hand washing the bowl, since its outer finish can wear in the dishwasher.

Is it worth paying more for than a basic electric pressure cooker?

Value for money is mixed, so it depends on how you cook. If you use the hands-free steam release, adjustable pressure, sear, sauté and reduce settings, the quality and control justify the cost. If you mainly want to cook rice and stews at a single pressure, a simpler cooker will do much the same job, and the mixed reliability makes the premium harder to justify.

How does the Fast Slow Pro handle both pressure cooking and slow cooking in one unit?

Breville's design adjusts time, temperature and pressure as you switch between fast (pressure) and slow cooking, using dual sensors at the top and bottom of the 6-quart bowl. You get 11 pressure cook settings and slow cook settings from high to low, with the LCD showing pressure, temperature, timer and steam status in every mode. Ease of use and cooking performance are both strong, so the dual-mode idea works day to day.

The Verdict

4.4Out of 5

The Breville Fast Slow Pro BPR700BSS is built to take the supervision out of pressure cooking. Dual sensors, 8 pressure levels, a clear LCD and a hands-free steam release that chooses Quick, Pulse or Natural release give you more control and less watching, and its ease of use, results and cleanup are excellent. The ceramic-coated bowl is nonstick and doubles as a serving dish. The trade-offs are time and trust: pressure and natural release can take a long time, the lid needs care to seal, and reliability, durability and value are all mixed. It rewards cooks who will use the extra control.

Who should buy it

  • Frequent pressure and slow cooks wanting control
  • Cooks who want to brown, pressure cook and reduce a sauce in one pot
  • Households that want hands-free steam release and a cooker they can walk away from
  • Buyers who prefer a ceramic-coated, PFOA and PTFE free bowl and a solidly built stainless steel cooker

The Breville Fast Slow Pro BPR700BSS is a thoughtfully designed, easy-to-use pressure and slow cooker whose automatic steam release, adjustable pressure and clear display make pressure cooking a relaxed, hands-off job. The results and the cleanup are excellent. Go in knowing that pressure and natural release can take a while, the lid needs care to seal, and reliability is mixed, so keep the paperwork for the 1-year replacement warranty. If you want the simplest, cheapest pressure cooker, this is more machine than you need.
