Place it on a countertop or open shelf with space around and above it. Enclosing it in a tight cabinet can make it overheat and shut itself off.
The power cord is short. Plug it straight into a wall socket where possible; if you must use a power strip or extension, make sure it is rated for at least 1000 watts and is not shared with other appliances.
