It does its job, and that is most of what gets said about it: food stays warm in the serving trays for the length of an event, cans often run past six hours, and part-used cans twist shut and keep their leftover fuel. Heat is described as even, and one owner noted the can itself stays cool to the touch. Value is well regarded for a pack of twelve. Burn time is the one mixed point among the positives, with a few finding the flame very low. The clear negatives are lighting, which many find hard, and leakage, which draws far more complaints than praise.

1. Check the cans

   Open the box over a tray the first time and look for any can that feels damp or has fuel around the cap. Wipe it dry and set it aside to air rather than lighting it wet.

2. Set up the chafer

   Place the chafer on a stable, heat-safe surface well away from curtains, table decorations and anything overhead. Fill the water pan and set the food pan in place before any flame is lit.

3. Twist off the cap

   Twist the Easy Twist Cap off by hand, keep it somewhere you will find it, and set the open can in the fuel holder under the water pan.

4. Light the wick patiently

   Hold a long lighter or match to the wick for several seconds so it can draw fuel, then look again after a minute. The flame is small and can be hard to see in bright light.

5. Snuff, cool and reseal

   Put the flame out with a snuffer or by setting the cap loosely over it, never by blowing. Let the can cool completely, then twist the cap down firmly and store it upright.
