Is the Tommee Tippee Dreammaker's sound pink noise or white noise?
Tommee Tippee calls it pink noise and says it replicates the natural sounds of the womb to prolong restful sleep. Pink noise carries more of its energy in the lower frequencies than white noise, so it sounds deeper and softer than a flat hiss. There is only one track, so you can't switch to a different sound if this one doesn't work for your baby.
Does the Dreammaker need to be plugged in?
No. Tommee Tippee lists it as battery powered, so it can sit anywhere in the nursery without a cord running near the crib. At 212.1 grams and just over five inches across, it is also easy to pack when you travel.
How does the CrySensor feature actually work?
Tommee Tippee says integrated technology hears your baby's cries and automatically turns on your pre-selected light and sound combination to soothe them back to sleep without you getting up. It's handy that the unit switches on by itself when the baby makes noise, but you can just as easily switch it on and off by hand, which takes a simple touch. It suits parents who let a baby self-settle more than those who pick the baby up at the first cry.
Why is the night light red instead of white?

Are the Dreammaker's controls easy to use?
They take some learning. The unit is touch controlled with no switches, and a button marked with a water drop sets the red light pulsing, which is not obvious at first. Turning it off can take a few taps around the top, a genuine annoyance at 2am with a half-asleep baby, though the sound and brightness controls are otherwise straightforward.
Is the Dreammaker good value?
For most families, yes. It can mean longer, more settled sleep, and it is priced like an ordinary sleep-and-soothe nightlight rather than a premium gadget. It doesn't suit every baby, though, so test it properly while you can still return it.
