1. Settle compatibility first, because it is decided by your appliance rather than by this product. Panels finished in 304-grade stainless are austenitic - the nickel in the alloy leaves them effectively non-magnetic - while the ferritic 430 used on older and cheaper appliances holds a magnet firmly. 1. Settle the Magnet Question First

It should hold and resist that nudge rather than creep. Test the door and each flank separately, because refrigerator exteriors split between two stainless families that look identical and behave completely differently. Austenitic grades such as 304 carry enough nickel to leave them effectively non-magnetic; ferritic grades such as 430 grip a magnet firmly. Newer and more expensive appliances lean toward 304, and a single unit often mixes the two, with a magnetic side panel behind a door that refuses. If nothing grips anywhere, no mounting technique rescues it.

2. Clean and Dry the Strip the Magnets Will Sit On

   Wipe the panel with warm soapy water, rinse it, and dry it completely with a lint-free cloth.
