For so long, our bread and bakery products were under threat by a pair of feline bakery thieves. But now, due to this bread bin their attempts to snaffle our scones or devour our doughnuts have been foiled!

I purchased this bread bin mainly because I love Joseph Joseph products and the size was the most appropriate for the items we needed it to store. I had noticed reviews about the lid being extremely tight and have to agree with them. We only place the bamboo lid on softly now because if closed properly, there is no way to get the lid off without prising it off with a blunt knife which you ideally don’t want to be doing! I don’t mind the plastic main compartment as it is easy to clean and our previous wooden bin fell apart after becoming warped so we decided against a wooden bin this time round. The quality is good and the bamboo lid is solid but the design needs to be revised as the lid is problematic. I purchased this during a lightning deal but I do not feel it is worth the full price at £50.

I bought this model in March to replace an almost identical Joseph bread bin that I had had for several years and was thrilled with. They have made some poor design changes to the product. 1) the lid is no longer oak and this new lid absorbed moisture from the bread and warped. It now gets jammed and you have to shake the box to lift. The lid has taken on a mouldy bread smell. 2) it is now made of a less stylish plastic. It feels like the design has been changed from a great product to reduce costs.

After having some answers to my question here, I ordered this bread bin. Finally a seamless bread bin doesn’t rrap crumbs and get moldy. It’s basically a big white plastic tub with a quality bamboo chopping board lid. So it is seamless and very easy to clean, wash and dry. It fits for the purposes. However, it’s from joesph joesph, so I suppose it would be a bit better quality (the white bin part) , thicker and sturdier plastic for the price. Luckily I got it at a bargain price, £31.5 ,so I am keeping it as it ticks all the boxes so far.

More than happy with this product and wish I’d got it years ago. Well made, stylish, the board is easy to remove and makes an excellent cutting surface. More importantly, the bread stays fresh. Reasonable capacity. Board requires food grade mineral oil to retain best appearance and condition
