The blade is too small … Soft things like bananas won’t fully blend even when chopped- they get stuck around the edges. Hard stuff like ice or frozen fruit? Good luck. This is ok for things like protein powder. It looks great, but you can find more effective blenders for far cheaper.

This blender looks beautiful but functions no better, perhaps worse than, an inexpensive Oster or Hamilton Beach blender. I couldn’t resist the beautiful form and have now owned two of these that have underperformed when they were fully functional and became non functional within a year of purchase. The plastic gear mechanism does not hold up to daily use, the o-ring in the pitcher if problematic is not replaceable (ours leaks although we have assembled, cleaned, reassembled) the pitcher lid has a cut out so you can add ingredients while blending…theoretically…it is impossible to remove while the lid is secured to the pitcher), the settings markers have all rubbed off so you have to guess what setting you are at. I have both the Smeg toaster and electric kettle which I highly recommend. If you can live with the appearance of a blend tech or vitamix, i would go with one one those instead of the Smeg

DO NOT BUY THIS BLENDER! There are far better blenders out there at a better price. I have had this blender for less than a year and a half and the plastic bottom on the jar completely broke off. I am unable to repair this and the only option is to buy a replacement part. I called customer service and first off, they were not very friendly or apologetic for the poor product. The man on the phone told me that the product was no longer under warranty and I had to purchase the replacement part. The cost with shipping—-$180.00!! They refused to help with any of the cost or to back their product in anyway. So I purchased one of the most expensive blenders on the market and it lasted a year and 5 months! Horrible product and company backing. I will never purchase anything from Smeg or recommend any of their products.
