This kettle would not stop! It kept heating until the water was nearly gone. I could not leave it alone, for fear it would do something worse! Defective or badly designed, does not matter. Returning it, and leaving this for anyone else who wants to buy one.

There are many things to like about this kettle. It is solid, easy to use, low-footprint base (I like the controls on the handle), and works reliably. BUT, there was a rust ring on the bottom the second time I used it. The stainless steel is WAY too thin.—————————————————————I wanted a kettle that was sturdy, durable, and practical. I don’t like gimmicks (I didn’t want a complicated strainer or extra lights), I like simple functionality, but the color-coding for different temperatures is useful. This kettle has much to recommend it. It is sturdy. It is reliable (heats fairly quickly), the color-coding for different temperatures is helpful, and it is graceful and aesthetically pleasing, one of the nicest looking kettles available. I like the small footprint of the base (bases with buttons tend to stick out more and waste counter space, so putting the controls in the handle was a good idea).I take good care of my things because I want them to last. We use only filtered water and it gets emptied and dried after every use. It was a SHOCK to see a rust ring emerge on the bottom after only two uses and now, after a couple of dozen uses, the rust has spread over most of the bottom. The strainer seems to be holding up better, no rust yet, but rust in the kettle is not acceptable. The only niggling design point is that it’s a bit tricky to get the strainer in the right position once it has been filled with water (it tends to want to float which makes it harder to “seat” it correctly), but it’s something you can get used to as long as you are patient.Because of the rust, I should only give this kettle one star, but everything else is good, so I am compromising with three stars. I should have sent it back, but I like the design better than the competition and was reluctant to part with it because the alternatives are less practical, less sturdy (this kettle weighs more), and less attractive than this one.

After one month, the water kettle stopped working. I have contacted the manufacturer who keeps reassuring me, but I haven’t seen a replacement as promised. Have been waiting for and about a month. Also, the thing beeped when you put it on the stand, when you start it and when you take it off…very annoying. I would prefer my money back.I got the replacement and now it too had died. This is NOT what you want.
